Neat idea for a community!

I'm Bryn Mawr '09, but I've been told on a few occasions that I am really secretly a Swarthmore student. This is mostly true socially-I can't help it that Bryn Mawr doesn't have contra dancing or people who appreciate my exceedingly geeky board games! Academically, however, I am (almost) 100% Bryn Mawr-I'm an anthropology major and pretty much in love with my department. Also, Bryn Mawr traditions are pretty much unbeatable.

Connections to other Quaker consortium schools:

*I've taken two Haverford classes so far, but they were both pretty miserable, to the point where I'm not feeling inclined to take anymore. Any Haverford people here who want to recommend a prof (preferably social science) who won't put me to sleep?

*I spent last fall singing with a group that rehearses at UPenn but isn't actually connected to the school. Didn't really like the music so much, but loved the area around the university. Fuh Wah tofu hoagies make my life complete-for any Penn people who've never had one, I suggest you do so ASAP. Even if you don't think you like tofu.

Hi! Tofu hoagies sounds intriguing - do you mean Fu-Wah on 47th Street? I think I've only been in there once, but if it's the place I'm thinking of, it's near the several great 47th Street restaurants.

Yeah, I've totally been in there, which reminds me I ought to go back to the area in general (once it's warmer) for Dahlak or Vientiane. :-) 47th and Baltimore is about 9 blocks from the southwestern edge of campus, so we can be a little lazy when it's cold.

Re: taking classes at other schools, I think it's unfortunately often a crapshoot. There are good and bad courses everywhere, and usually by second semester freshman year we've begun figuring out who to ask and how to gauge - but we're first-semester freshmen all over again if we take classes elsewhere in the Consortium. If do you decide to try again, ask your professors for prof/course recommendations and pose questions on the LJ community for the respective college.

My Favorite Prof was a Penn grad student and currently teaches elsewhere in the Consortium - I'm reluctant to be more specific, lest it get back to her that I'm really this geeky - so I know there are high-level academic ties among the schools. I'm doing an independent research project with her right now, actually, obviously not at Penn.

P.S. I can't believe my Bryn Mawr little sister hasn't joined this community yet. What a tool.
